Iyalode is not an administrative post borrowed from a committee handbook. It is a Yoruba chieftaincy title, historically the highest held by a woman in the town, carrying the voice of the women of Ibadan in council. Oloye marks a chief. Alhaja marks a woman who has made the pilgrimage to Mecca. They are set here in the display face, at full weight, because they are part of the name and not an abbreviation to be tidied away.
