Make a donation

Give once, or give monthly.

Monthly is the one that changes what the Council can plan. A drive can be funded in a rush; a scholarship cannot.

The Union is a 501(c)(3). Exemption was granted on 9 April 2004, so gifts from United States taxpayers are tax deductible to the extent the law allows.

EIN to be published The Council should publish the EIN here. Donors, and every grant application, will ask for it.

$100, given every month.

Processor not yet connected Until the Union's giving account is live, this button carries your choice to the Council rather than to a payment page that does not exist. It becomes a real checkout the moment one URL is filled in.

How this should be set up

Three questions worth settling before the first dollar moves.

01

Fees

Zeffy charges nonprofits no platform fee, which is why it is the first recommendation. Stripe and Givebutter are both solid and both take a cut. Whichever is chosen, state the fee on this page. Donors trust the organisation that tells them.

02

Recurring

The old PayPal button offered monthly giving it could not actually take. Whatever replaces it must genuinely charge monthly, and let a member stop without an email exchange.

03

Receipts

Every gift needs an automatic receipt carrying the Union's legal name and EIN, and a January summary for the tax year. This is not a nicety; it is what a 501(c)(3) is for.

Other ways to give

Members who would rather hand a cheque to the Treasurer at a monthly meeting have always done so, and that has not changed. Write to the Union and the Treasurer will arrange it.
